Commissioning Technician/Agent

RMF is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to work in its Commissioning Department in their Charlotte, North Carolina location. 
 
Job Description
The Commissioning Technician and Agent role will be part of a team providing third-party owner representative quality control for a wide variety of new construction projects and existing buildings. Current client’s projects include higher-education, municipal, healthcare, and federal construction sectors. Tasks follow industry standards for New Building Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning defined by NC Energy Code, ASHRAE, LEED, Green Globes, BCA, and ACG. Duties will include but not be limited to: office and site support, design review, life cycle cost analysis, meetings, construction site visits, energy analysis, field testing, troubleshooting MEP systems, and authoring reports.  The individual must have high verbal and written communication skills to interact regularly with clients, construction contractors, trade contractors and other engineering companies.
 
Qualifications:
Applicable qualifications include:

  • Microsoft Word (Required)
  • Microsoft Excel (Required)
  • 2 to 4 Years’ experience in construction industry (Preferred)
  • HVAC Equipment design background (Preferred)
  • TAB Air Balance experience (Preferred)
  • Controls experience (Preferred)
  • Contractor experience (Preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree of science in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
  • and/or 2-year Engineering Technical degree (Preferred)
  • ACG Commissioning Authority (CxA) or BCA Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) (Commissioning Agent)
  • Professional Engineer License (active or eligibility encouraged, but not required)

Candidate will work under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer and have the opportunity to receive training in engineering, MEP design, the commissioning process, and team leadership.  Individual will have the opportunity to learn and apply the business side of an engineering consulting firm.  Local, national and international projects present an opportunity for travel.
